Prof. Dr. Hasan ERBAY – Head of Department
Hasan Erbay was born in Ankara in 1968. He completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering and M.S. in Mathematics at Penn State University, USA and his under-
graduate studies in Mathematics at Middle East Technical University. His research interests lie in the areas of numerical linear algebra, numerical computation, approximation, image pro- cessing, and latent semantic analysis, ranging from theory to design to implementation. Erbay is married and the father of two sons.

Prof. Dr. Ertan ÖZTÜRK
Ertan Öztürk was born in İznik, Turkey in 1971. He graduated from the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Gazi University, Ankara with a BSc degree in 1992. He got his Master and PhD degrees both in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1995 and 2001, respectively. He served as part time teaching assistant and adjunct faculty in the same department.
He worked at Motorola Arlington Height as a senior system engineer for Radio Access Network planning, capacity and performance evaluation of 3G systems. He taught Motorola Microprocessors and telecommunication courses at Chicago DeVry University. Mr. Özturk had served as a faculty member at the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of Bulent Ecevit University, Turkey for 15 years, where he had a significant role for the preparation of undergraduate and master program curriculums of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), establishment of laboratories as well as teaching numerous undergrad and grad courses. He served also as the department chair at the EEE department for six years, during his term the doctorate program was opened and the undergraduate program was accredited by MUDEK that is accreditation body of engineering schools in Turkey.
His research area is mainly on the wireless communication techniques and networks. He has been the co-author of about 50 Journal and conference papers. He has supervised 2 PhD, and 12 master thesis in the area of wireless communications, and he was the principle investigator for three funded research projects. He served in the editorial board of Wireless Communication and Mobile Computing Journal. Prof. Ozturk was the General Chair of 24. Signal Processing and Communication Application Conference (SIU 2016) that is one of the most significant academic event in Turkey. He also has also served as in the TPC of several international conferences.
Recently, Prof. Ozturk has lead an embedded software and hardware team that has developed an bed side patient monitor at Eretna Medical Technology Company in Istanbul, Turkey. The CE certificate of ERETNA® bed side patient monitor was issued on February 2020 and has become ready for the manufacturing. Prof. Ozturk has also recently served as the General Manager of MA Engineering Company that is one of the main solution providers within Airport Communication, Navigation Surveillance (CNS) and Air Traffic Management (ATM) Systems.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. E. Deniz TEKİN
Dr. Tekin received a BSc degree from the physics department of KSU and a PhD degree from the physics department of METU in 2002 and 2010, respectively. During her PhD, she spent one year in the chemical engineering and material science department of the University of California, Davis. She worked as a research assistant at METU for the years 2002-2010, as an assistant professor at UTAA flight training department for the years 2011-2016, as a post-doctoral researcher and as a visiting scholar at Bilkent University, UNAM. She received the Associated Professor title from the Council of Higher Education in October 2017. Since January 2018, she has been working as a faculty member at UTAA.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Faruk TOKDEMİR
After graduating from the Department of Physics of Middle East Technical University in 1973, Dr. Faruk Tokdemir worked as a Computer Programmer in the project supported by TUBITAK and carried out with NASA / USA. In this project, he designed and implemented many programs to analyze Gamma Rays originating from astrophysical objects and recorded and sent by the Small Astronomy Satellite (SAS II).
Later, he was involved in a research group investigating UV rays from the International Ultraviolet Explorer (IUE) satellite launched by ESA (European Space Agency). In this project, he developed software to analyze the digital UV spectrum data from celestial bodies (such as binary stars) recorded on magnetic tapes. In these projects, 7/16 Interdata mini-computer system (which was the first in Turkey) and University central computer (IBM 370/145) were used. The programming languages used were Fortran and IBM Assembler.
He received his M. Sc. Degree in 1980 and Ph.D. degree in 1985 from the Physics Department of the Middle East Technical University. Afterwards, he was involved as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Engineering. He also taught computer science courses at Sultan Qabus / Oman University in 1995 and Manas University in Kyrgyzstan in 2006 as a short-term faculty member.
He worked as a manager in many educational and applied projects. Dr. Faruk Tokdemir retired on January 1, 2015 and started to work at THK University as a faculty member.
Dr. Faruk Tokdemir holds CISCO Java programming and Oracle Java programming certificates. In addition to his other publications, he has a textbook called FORTRAN77 (English). He is also a co-author of a book entitled KOCABEY, which describes all aspects of village life.

After graduating from Mathematics Department of TOBB University of Economics and Technology (TOBB ETU) in 2008, Dr. Hakan Ezgi Kızılöz received his MSc and PhD degrees from Computer Engineering Department of the same university in 2010 and 2016, respectively. Throughout these graduate programs, he assisted several courses at TOBB ETU and TED University. He also gave introduction to programming courses to students from economics and several engineering departments during his PhD study. His research interests include usable security and machine learning. He has publications in wireless sensor networks and usable security areas.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Hasan AKSOY
Dr. Hasan Aksoy hold a BSc degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering since 1998. He received his MSc & PhD degrees in Circuits design, Microelectronics and Microsystems from the Doctoral School GEET (Electrical, Electronics & and Telecommunication Engineering) of Paul Sabatier university (Toulouse, FRANCE) in 2003 and 2007, respectively. His PhD work, titled as “Drowsiness estimation of an operator: automatic analysis of physiological signals”, was achieved in LAAS-CNRS (Laboratory for Analysis and Architecture of Systems of the French National Scientific Research Centre). This work was a part of the big European project SENSATION (Advanced Sensor development for attention, stress, vigilance and sleep) in cooperation with many laboratories in France, Sweden and Greece.
Dr Aksoy is working as an assistant professor since 2008. He worked in Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department and in Computer Engineering Department in Several universities. He joined the academic staff in Faculty of Engineering of the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association in April 2014.

Meltem Imamoglu received her B.S. degree from Hacettepe University Statistic Department (1998) and M.S. degree from Information Systems program at Middle East Technical University (2004). She has Ph.D. degree from Atılım University. She has conference papers, scientific articles and book chapters about cloud computing, IT audit, electronic public procurement and interoperability subjects. She was technical coordinator of the e-audit project that applies all tax offices around the country. She has over 15 years of experience in the government ICT industry as a Software Developer and Project Manager.
